Episode 18 - Theodora Eliezer
August 22, 2020

On this episode, Phillip welcomes New Orleans-based multimedia artist and futurist Theodora Eliezer. Theodora's practice—including the transmedia art project Momma Tried magazine, the Furby-centered, augmented reality installation The Furbaeum, and the digital, lovers chess game Deep Blue—explores non-linear time, the implications of media being subject to mortality, and feminist considerations of the body, identity, aesthetics, and technoethics. Characterized by interconnected narratives in installation, lens-based media, digital and physical artifacts, and related critical theory, their recent work is influenced by Masahiro Mori and Carlo Rovelli, and is concerned with the future rights of sentient machines and the intersection of magic and quantum theory.
